Last Wednesday was #ShowYourStripes Day. These are Ireland's stripes. There will be no more blue stripes, but we can control how red they get with climate action now.

Urine Fertiliser

Farmers and researchers in Niger have conducted trials of urine fertiliser from 2014 to 2016 and achieved a 30% increase in pearl millet yield compared to standard fertiliser. Urine fertiliser is also a much more environmentally sustainable alternative to regular fertiliser.

Optical Microphone

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University developed an optical microphone that uses lasers to measure sound vibrations on materials to reconstruct the isolated audio.

Volvo Hydrogen Hauler Trucks

Volvo is testing new hydrogen powered haulage trucks which can be charged by 12kg of hydrogen in 7.5 minutes fir 4 hours of operation. Volvo expects to commercialise hydrogen powered vehilces by 2025.

Private Moon Orbit Mission

An upcoming satellite moon mission launched by private company Rocket Labs and funded by NASA will deliver a satellite in a near-rectilinear halo orbit around the moon. The mission is designed to test this stable orbit around the moon, which will later be used by NASA to launch a lunar space station.
