This deep dive is great and full of details and challenging questions. Eamon Ryan has a questionable meme-inspired political reputation, but he can't be accused of not knowing his brief inside out and being able to paint a positive picture of transitional change.

Google Greenwashes Aircraft Emissions

As reported by the BBC, Google have updated their Google flights emissions calculations to exclude all the global warming impacts of flying except CO2. This removes almost half of the emissions generated actually generated from aviation. Failing to measure & display these additional missions effectively amounts to greenwashing, and is the opposite of what is needed during a climate emergency :-(

Janet Jackson Can Crash Your Hard Drive

A story from The Register, syndicated through MSN, tells of mysterious computer crashes whenever Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation was played, by the computer itself or close to it. After what I imagine was some wild debugging, it was discovered that the song contains frequencies that match the resonant frequency of some brands of 5400rpm hard drives used in older computers. The issue has now been declared as a cybersecurity vulnerability.
