My favourite album of the year is Game On by Mick Flannery & Susan O'Neill. Their voices perfectly accompany each other like two sides of a musical coin. Pure magic.

Dry Goods, the debut album from House Plants is just great, and gets better with every listen!
My October Teacher is a documentary about a diver who earns the trust of an octopus over the course of a year diving in the same area. It doesn't sound very engaging, but I guarantee you'll be hooked into the daily routine of that octopus before long :-)
Doctor Sleep
Far and away the best show for me this year was Ted Lasso. It's not really about the story (which is great), it's about how it makes you feel! Every episode is an emotional rollercoaster and takes you from laughing to crying in the space of a scene, in a good way :-)
The Expanse
Researchers in Kyoto University in Japan have demonstrated how the magnetic field generated by the conductive waves of a tsunami arrives about a minute before the waves themselves, and can be used as an early warning sign and a means to predict the height of the wave.
Kone, the lift (elevator) company published some nice datavis graphs showing a drop in lift use by 80% in the top 10 European cities during the initial pandemic period of February to April 2020. The graphs also show a 134%+ bounce-back for London in 2021, and 300%+ in Chicago.
Tom Whitwell is back this year with another great list of 52 things he learned in 2021, like 105 of U.S. electricity is generated from old Russian nuclear warheads, and your memory resets when you walk through a door.
Pink Trombone is a fantastically fun simulation of speech being formed in your mouth. Use the controls to change the shape of the mouth to change the sound.
