The days of blue skies and pretty clouds are becoming fewer these days as Autumn approaches, but the photo above is a shot from the promenade in Penarth on one of the rare blue sky days recently :-)

Google have launched a search engine for data sets similar to Google Scholar, allowing data scientists, researchers and others. The search engine presents summaries of each dataset along with links to the source location of the dataset.

Researchers at the University of California, Riverside have discovered the chemical detection abilities of an African musical instrument called a mbira. The instrument uses metal times connected to a wooden sounding board which produce a musical tone when plucked. The research has discovered that using a hallow U-shaped tine filled with different liquids produce notes of different frequencies. These differences can be used to detect different liquid samples such as sodium chloride or non-toxic glycerol.

BMW Motorrad have released footage of their driverless motorcycle driving on its own around a track. The aim of the project is to improve riding safety by allowing this technology to aid the rider, as opposed to a producing an autonomous driving motorcycle.

Hen Ogledd, a new supergroup formed by Dawn Bothwell, Rhodri Davies, Richard Dawson and Sally Pilkington have released their debut single Problem Child along with this amazing video. My words won't do the video justice, I suggest you watch it instead! :-)

Marvel have teamed up with Stitcher to release their first scripted podcast, a story about mysterious killings in Alaska involving lots of claw injuries. No prizes for guessing which Marvel character is involved (the clue is in the name! :-p). The podcast is a great radio drama with sound effects and atmospheric music coupled with a compelling drama narrative, and also Wolverine!

I recently got my hands on The Bog Road graphic novel by Barry Keegan on a recent trip to Dublin and I highly recommend it. The book is a great story about the world of ancient Irish beings clashing with the modern world. It's published by Sub City Comics and is available to order online here.
