PHP in 2020

Brent over at Stitcher.io published an illuminating article on the current state of PHP in 2020. He describes the recent evolution of PHP to include strong types, closures and package managers, among other things.

Modelling Knot Stability

Mathematicians and engineers at MIT have developed a model that predicts the stability of a knot. The model was created by observing the pressure on knots using fibres that change colour with pressure. A simulation was then created and tested against the real world results in order to validate the model.

Movie Review: The Two Popes

I really enjoyed watching The Two Popes on Netflix. Jonathan Pryce's performance as Jorge Bergoglio is outstanding! I'm no fan of the Catholic Church, but the narrative and progression in the discussions between the two characters works very well and as a story telling device, the film is excellent. Not to be mistaken for a documentary though :-)

Hydropanels

Zero Mass Water is a tech company based in Arizona that have developed Hydropanels which use solar power to extract water from captured air vapour. The award winning technology is being rolled out in a consumer product called rexi this summer by the company, at a retail price of $2,500.
